Known by fans as Man Utd like ourselves, Manchester United is a professional football club from Manchester, England, which performs in the Premier League. The club was founded back in 1878, under the name of Newton Heath LYR Football Club. It changed its name to Manchester United Football Club in 1902. In 1910, it moved to the Old Trafford football stadium, which is today considered as the “home” of this football club. Having more than 50 million fans, Manchester United is considered one of the most popular football clubs in the world.

In 1968, the football club was the first English football team that won the UEFA Champions League, under the coordination of Matt Busby. This happened 10 years after the tragic aviation incident that happened at München, on the 6th of February 1958, when 8 players of the club lost their lives. In present days, the coach of Manchester United is Jose Mourinho, but the most successful coach of the club remains Sir Alex Ferguson, who helped the club obtain 37 major trophies since he became a coach back in 1986.

It is one of the most successful football clubs in England. Over the span of 20 years, it won an impressive number of important trophies, more than any other club in Premier League. Starting with the 1986-1987 season, Manchester United won the Premier League for 19 times, the Cup of England for 12 times, 4 League Cups, and FA Community Shield for 19 times, which is also a record. Starting with the mid-90s, this football clubs also became one of the richest in the world. And, until recently, it enjoyed some of the biggest benefits of all the football clubs in the world, for several years in a row. Since 2007, the club is on the 4th place when it comes to income, but it still remains one of the most feasible football clubs in the world. It also remains the most expensive football club out there at the moment.

Currently, the captain of the team is Wayne Rooney, who replaced Nemanja Vidic in 2014. In May 2013, Sir Alex Ferguson announced his retirement from the position of coach, leaving the management of the team in the hands of David Moyes. After a catastrophic season achieved by Moyes, he was resigned from the club, being replaced with Louis van Gaal. Although he came up with spectacular transfer campaigns, purchasing valuable players for the team, he managed to achieve just a 4th place in 2015, a 5th place and one Cup of England in 2016. Because of this, he was also resigned and replaced with Jose Mourinho. The first transfers of Mourinho were spectacular. He managed to convince Zlatan Ibrahimovic to sign with the team for free and get Paul Pogba for the sum of 100 million Euro, making this French player the most expensive transfer in history. Also, in the summer of 2009, the club sold Cristiano Ronaldo, who played for the team in the 2007-2008 season, for 80 million pounds, a transfer that became a world record.
